Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Tips + Tricks

Happy Sunday! We’re only a few days away from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. There’s so much hype over this sale and it can be extremely overwhelming, so I’m sharing a few tips and tricks to get you ahead of the game. To start, I’ll explain exactly what the sale means and help you strategize how to shop so you don’t miss out on a single thing!

WHAT IS THE NORDSTROM ANNIVERSARY SALE?

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is one of the biggest (and my personal favorite) online sales of the year. It features dozens of brand name clothing, shoes and accessories at heavily discounted prices. We’re talking Tory Burch, Rebecca Minkoff, Kendra Scott, and Michael Kors items that you’ll never find for a better price!

WHY SO MUCH HYPE?

Nordstrom releases brand new fall merchandise specifically for this sale at a heavily discounted price. Typically, websites will release new seasonal merchandise at full price and eventually discount them. Nordstrom items start on sale for a certain period of time and slowly work their way back up to normal prices by August. This is typically the time when people buy fall and winter clothing to wear later!

WHEN CAN I SHOP?

The sale starts with early access for cardholders from July 14-21. During this time, only Nordstrom debit or credit card holders can shop the sale. Items will sell quickly so you basically get first dibs on all merchandise when you’re a cardholder! You’re much more likely to find items in your size. I personally have a Nordstrom debit card and I absolutely love the perks! If you want to shop the pre-sale, you can sign up for a card here. I suggest applying sooner rather than later if you can, since it takes a few days for everything to process.

Don’t forget that the sale opens to the public on July 22 and prices go back up on August 8.

HOW SHOULD I SHOP THE SALE?

Honestly, the best way to get your hands on the items you want the most is to have some kind of strategy. For starters, you can look at the preview catalog here to see what type of items will be on sale.

Next, look into your fall and winter wardrobe. Is there anything missing? Is it time for a new watch? Are your fall and winter bags starting to look worn? Are your leggings torn from so much wear? (This ALWAYS happens to me!) If you know what you need beforehand, you won’t spend nearly as much time searching blindly through the website. That may sound silly, but it definitely saves time and ensures that you’ll purchase items that you really want and need before they’re gone!

Also take into consideration what type of items sell out quickly. If you’re interested in them, you should shop those first! Tory Burch handbags and tall riding boots (Always a HUGE hit during the sale), cold weather accessories like hats and leggings, Michael Kors watches, suede booties (Something I always shop for during the sale) and faux fur vests.
